Soul diggin, but plenty of funk diggin too – as this tight little collection has more than a few funky numbers up in the mix! The set's from the same folks who brought us the excellent Rare Groove series – and there's definitely plenty of rare grooves here – the kind of older soul tracks that were never that big at the time, but which have gone onto more legendary status, thanks to crate diggers and DJs on the international scene!

Spellbinding Afro-beat classics, reissued with full colour artwork on fresh vinyl cut. 'Everything Scatter' is a stone cold hit, fourteen minutes of the tightest instrumental instincts woven into one dynamite dancefloor mover, all with a strong message of African identity and an unshakable energy. 'Who No Know Go Know' features a seminal keyboard workout set against rich horns and a slow, tucked-in drumming from Tony Allen which has made this a favourite with the likes of Theo Parrish who included it on his 'Eclectic Aesthetic Pt.1' mix album. Unmissable.
Here we have an album that merges funk, disco, AOR and soft rock into an electrifying brew with an utterly cheerful atmosphere, made to either get up and dance to or sit back and make it work as a soundtrack for an imaginary movie dragging you straight to the streets of San Francisco with hundreds of Mustangs, Challengers and Firebirds buzzing around. Especially recommended to fans of library records from the 70s.
‘Step On Step’ is a compilation of previously unreleased solo recordings that visionary American producer Charles Stepney made at his Chicago home, in the years before his tragically early death in 1976. Stepney’s lush orchestral arrangements for artists like Rotary Connection, Earth, Wind & Fire and Minnie Riperton have long been go-to sources for samples from hip-hop titans like MF Doom and Kanye West. You can hear that genius in embryonic form on these twenty-three demo-style tracks.
