'Mm..Food' is the second album from masked MC MF DOOM and Daniel Dumile's fifth record overall. It's one of the many hip hop classics from the Metal Face camp. His production got wilder yet less lo-fi, with cartoon sound snippets meeting obscure yet playful beats. The rhymes of course, are food and drink themed, with abstract bars concerning all sorts of edible treats. Features many of DOOM's most loved tracks, including 'One Beer', 'Potholderz', and 'Snitch Knishes'.
South Carolina-based multi-hyphenate, Contour, arrives on London's Touching Bass with 'Onwards!' — an evocative, twelve-track journey through black art both past and contemporary with soul, electronics and archival material at its core.“The record exists as a bridge in conversation between today’s artists and art of the past which offered potential ways to navigate the world that we’re in; personally or on a larger scale” says Contour.
The Unseen was released in 2000, and turned into one of the new decade's first sleeper hits at a time when the producer and label were unknown outside of hip-hop DJ circles. The Unseen was Madlib's solo debut, but when the album premiered the identity of Quasimoto himself was a mystery. Maybe he was Madlib, maybe he wasn't. Maybe it's none of our business.Madlib created Quasimoto as someone to rap on his beats for his own private listening while living in Oxnard and Santa Barbara in the 1990s. The Unseen was the result of Peanut Butter Wolf's convincing Madlib to release these recordings for the rest of the us to hear. Sleeve by Jeff Jank.
